krug clos d'ambonnay
Krug Clos D'ambonnay is Krug's "figurehead", a breathtaking champagne that effortlessly combines body and freshness, power and finesse.
The special signature of Krug is the complex assemblage of more than 50 wines, which is created from six to ten different vintages.
The interplay of so many vintages gives Krug Clos D'ambonnay its unique wealth of aromas and fragrances, its incredible generosity and its absolute elegance. It would be impossible to achieve this with the wines of only a single year. His extraordinary finesse is the result of at least another six years remaining in the wine cellar.
A shiny gold hue, an extravagant, engaging bouquet, a nearly creamy texture that lends the prelude to a true aroma explosion with mild and mature, vivid and clear nuances. These are fine roasted aromas, aromas of mild spices, dried and candied fruits.
The Krug Clos D'ambonnay is the finest example of an art of assemblage, as only pitcher masters. There is no recipe for their subtle harmony. In order to create the most complex of champagnes every year, the Krug family uses wine tasting and memory alone. Approximately 50 wines of the three grape varieties, which come from 20 to 25 different layers and from six to ten vintages, are used for the assemblage of Krug Grande Cuvée.
